Erwin Disaster Relief Clinic Plan

Hello Volunteers!

We wanted to update you with some information regarding the disaster relief clinic tomorrow, as well as get some details from you to ensure we are delegating resources appropriately.

  • God has blessed this ministry with an abundance of volunteers and donations, more than we could have hoped for! Deacon Joe Herman from Mountain City called us yesterday indicating they are also in need, so we will be operating a second clinic tomorrow afternoon from 1pm-4pm in Mountain City, TN. The address for this site is St. Anthony of Padua Parish, 833 W Main St, Mountain City. Sister Mary Lisa will arrive in Erwin to start, make sure everything is up and running smoothly, and then travel on to Mountain City with a group of volunteers.

  • We have rented two 15-passenger panel vans for a total of 30 spots to transport folks out to Erwin and Mountain City. If you would like to specifically volunteer to go to Mountain City, please contact Sister directly at srmarylisa@smlcares.com. We are currently waiting on word from Deacon Herman regarding how many volunteers would be needed there. It is our intention to send one van with volunteers and supplies to each location. It is imperative that we know who is going to the clinic, how they are getting there, and how many people will be in your party. Please send this information to info@smlcares.com.

  • Try to bring few / no personal items with you unless you can keep them on your person all day long (due to limited space at the church and no area for storage).

  • If you are intending to arrive at the warehouse tomorrow morning and ride with us, please let us know. You will need to arrive at the warehouse at 6:50am for a 7:00am departure.

  • If you are driving yourself, please let us know. Please also let us know if you are riding with another volunteer or if you will have other volunteers in your vehicle.

  • If you are planning on driving straight to Mountain City, please let us know. Please note we will not be arriving in Mountain City until 12:30pm.

  • Your roles in the clinic may be slightly different than the typical roles you fill, but there will be clear descriptions and assignments once we arrive in Erwin/Mountain City. For simplicity, we will be using a paper charting system, so no one needs to be concerned with logging in to Athena.

  • If you are a new volunteer with us, there will be just a few pieces of paperwork for you to fill out in the morning.

  • As stated in our previous email, food and water has been generously provided for all patients and volunteers, and this is true for both locations.

When there is a need, God provides, and he does so in abundance through you, our amazing volunteers. We want to thank each one of you for your dedication, selflessness, and generosity.
